What an amazing wedding to start off my 2023 season! First, there’s Tim and Jacqueline. They are incredibly fun to be around–always laughing and keeping the moment light hearted. March weather in Ohio is known to be very unpredictable, and though it rained hard earlier in their day, the sun was shining brightly by the time they said their “I do’s.” The wind, however, refused to let up. Jacqueline tied a scarf around her head, and they braved the wind to go to the Ohio Statehouse for some portraits.
The Athletic Club of Columbus is one of my favorite venues in Columbus. It is classic, dramatic, and convenient for out of town guests (offering hotel rooms as well). The furnace room features floor to ceiling windows, dark wooden paneling, an ornate and colored ceiling, large chandeliers, and the exquisite fireplace which acts as the backdrop for wedding ceremonies (decorated with florals on the mantle, of course). A grand piano sits in the back of the room, and the wood floors make the music resonate through the large room. The ballroom where the reception tables were set up has more floor to ceiling windows and drapes with a curvature for added character. The staircase that leads up to the second floor is a favorite as well. It is lined with candles and greenery and is a hallmark of the Athletic Club.
Tim and Jacqueline shared a private first look moment after they had gotten ready for the day. Then they spent the rest of the day together. Most of the pictures were completed before the ceremony, so they were able to mingle with their guests during cocktail hour.
It was an honor to photograph this wedding, and I’m excited to share favorite pictures from the day below!
